An Rollerskater Update

Hello all! It’s been a while since I’ve written an update, so I thought I’d just let everyone know how things are coming along.

As you may or may not be aware, Rollerskater is ending this year with a thrilling conclusion that will almost certainly convince a nonzero percentage of you that I had it all planned out from day one, even though I didn’t and have been desperately clinging on for dear life for most of the journey.

Rollerskater also celebrated its third anniversary recently, which is pretty neato – I can’t believe I’ve been working on this project for three whole years!

Regardless, you may have noticed that the number of chapters released in recent months has slowed to an absolute crawl. There are a number of reasons for this – lack of motivation, lack of inspiration, distraction and lethargy.

On a more serious note, I unfortunately suffered quite a bad depressive episode in the early months of this year that left me, as usual, doubting my ability as a writer and struggling to write anything halfway decent. I spent much of this time procrastinating, typing paragraphs, deleting paragraphs, and procrastinating some more. For that, I am sorry.

For the record, these episodes are much, much shorter than they used to be – the worst one ever lasted years through my adolescence. Recovery is not linear, however, and so while I’m doing better on average, I still go through rough patches that put frustrating brakes on my rate of productivity.

I have, however, got back on the horse in recent weeks, and I’ve been working hard on getting the next few exciting chapters of Rollerskater written. They go to darker places than Rollerskater has gone before, and I am excited to share them with you.

Rather than my usual setup, I am planning to write all of these chapters together, like a novel, rather than writing and releasing them one at a time. By doing this, I can create a more cohesive and satisfying ending, where all the pieces hang together beautifully and synchronously.

The unfortunate trade-off for this quality control measure is that my readers will have to wait a little while longer for new Rollerskater.

I am at present aiming for a summer release, and I think this is possible.

Please rest assured, in any case, that the end is in sight, and the story will be completed before the year is out. Just bear with me as I work on getting it to you. I am very excited to share it with you all.

Excelsior!
