Some Rollerskater Announcements and Arc Retitles!

Salutations, friends!

What a wild year it’s been – I wrote what was to become the first chapter of Rollerskater all the way back in March 2019, mostly as an experiment. I am very pleased to say that the experiment has been a resounding success, and Rollerskater now numbers twenty instalments and counting, spanning two arcs, and is at last count around 140,530 words long, which is just ridiculous considering that my last long-form project, The Malcontent of Mars, was a little over half that length.

As I have written this series I have fallen more and more in love with its setting and its colourful cast of characters, and I can assure faithful readers that I will keep writing it until I feel that I have run out of stories to tell, or I drop dead, whichever comes first.

This is just a bit of formal housekeeping: Throughout their release runs I have been referring to Rollerskater’s first and second arcs as “Arc I” and “Arc II” respectively, which I feel is quite dry and does little to separate the two parts in terms of theme and structure. It is my opinion that they lack an identity within the wild Rollerskater canon with such dry names.

I am therefore announcing that Rollerskater Arc I and Arc II are to be formally retitled as of now.

Drum roll, please!

Rollerskater Arc I is, from this day forward, to be referred to by the title Umbric Spring.

Rollerskater Arc II is, from this day forward, to be referred to by the title Rose Gold.

The official title for Rollerskater Arc III will be announced in short course.

Thank you so much to everyone that has supported Rollerskater over the last year. We live in uncertain and anxious times at the moment, but I have every intention of keeping Rollerskater going for as long as I can, and I am very excited to share Rollerskater Arc III with you.

Rollerskater will now be entering a short hiatus. I have no dates of release planned yet but I am hoping to have Arc III come out some time in late summer or early autumn, so you have time to catch up (or even re-read, if you’re so inclined).

I plan to hopefully release some shorter fiction in the meantime.

Have a wonderful summer – or at least, as wonderful a summer as you can, given the circumstances – and stay safe and healthy. Good luck and god bless.
